Yukon University’s Continuing Studies division is seeking a committed Educator/Coordinator to design and deliver applied training in event coordination and office administration, with a strong emphasis on northern and Indigenous workplace contexts.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about hands-on teaching, relationship-centred learning, and supporting students to gain practical, job-ready skills for administrative, community, and event-based careers.

Teach & Coordinate
Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in:
o Professional communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
o Office procedures, records management, and basic archival practices
o Digital communication, scheduling, and virtual meeting tools
o Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
o Professional writing (emails, agendas, meeting minutes)
o Event planning: logistics, vendor coordination, budgeting and timelines
o Risk management and on-site event operations
o Cultural and protocol awareness for events involving First Nations governments, Elders, and community partners
• Develop, update, and maintain curriculum and instructional materials that reflect Yukon First Nations teaching and learning principles.
• Recruit and coordinate guest mentors and casual instructors when required.

Support Students & Provide Mentorship
• Build strong relationships with learners and community members.
• Offer individualized mentorship to support student progress, confidence, and skill development.
• Coordinate with YukonU supports such as admissions, counselling services, and learning assistance.
• Maintain accurate student and program records.

Program Coordination & Community Engagement
• Coordinate weekly workshop logistics, scheduling, materials, and instructor availability.
• Work closely with YukonU staff to ensure administrative requirements are completed (casual hire forms, materials purchasing, timesheets).
• Collaborate with First Nations governments, Elders, steering committees, community partners, and other YukonU departments.
• Host visitors and provide updates on program activities and community impacts.

Knowledge & Experience
• Strong instructional skills, including curriculum development and adult education strategies.
• Experience working in cross-cultural contexts, ideally with Yukon First Nations communities and adult learners.
• Knowledge of northern, multicultural issues and community-based learning approaches.
• Experience with program coordination and applied training delivery.
• Strong communication skills—oral, written, and interpersonal.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
