Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor, Operations & Maintenance, the Chimney Services & Maintenance Worker is primarily responsible for the inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of wood-burning appliances within homes owned by the Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN).
During the off-season (typically mid-May to mid-September), the incumbent will support a wide range of general labour and maintenance activities within the department.
Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education, combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified below, will equally be considered.
- Grade 10 or equivalent; higher education or trades exposure is an asset
- Previous experience in general labour, construction, maintenance, or outdoor work preferred
- Experience working at heights or with ladders/scaffolding is an asset
- Experience operating basic hand and power tools
Knowledge and skills (what we may assess/interview on):
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and timely documentation.
- Strong time management and reliability;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and safety protocols;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required;
- Basic understanding of occupational health and safety requirements;
- Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
Conditions of Employment:
- Satisfactory Criminal records check;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with acceptable abstract;
- Completion of required safety training, including, but not limited to:
- Fall protection
- Confined space entry
- WHMIS
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Hazard assessment
- First Aid/CPR
- WETT certification
Salary: $48,685.00 - $80,171.00 per annum ($26.75 - $44.05 per hour) Level 3
