OverviewReporting to the Wellness Director the NNADAP/Justice Worker is responsible for assisting Dease River First Nation (DRFN) members and community members within the justice system. NNADAP duties include supporting individuals and families experiencing addictions and crisis situations. This position is required to work with Children and Family services in both Yukon and British Columbia (BC), the RCMP, and any other Government or Provincial Agencies.
Qualifications
Justice:
· Assisting clients in all regular court appearance by acting as a support through regular court appearance by speaking to sentence, adjournments, and/or trial dates
· Support clients by understanding the justice system and their rights and responsibilities
· Assisting clients when applying to Legal Aid and/or arranging appointments with Legal Aid
· Work with the RCMP and the Dease River RCMP detachment
NNADAP:
· Provide support to clients with alcohol and drug dependency through referrals to counselling and/or treatment
· Client home visits and/or institutional visits to provide supports for members
· Maintain accurate and confidential records relating to individual clients
· Support children and families when needed to navigate the Ministry of Child & Family Services (BC) and/or Family & Children Services (YT)
Education/Experience
The successful candidate will possess a certificate or diploma in counselling, justice or similar fields and/or minimum three (3) years experience working in Wellness with significant experience in a First Nation environment.
