The Fitness Centre is an important part of YukonU’s student wellness programming, providing access to cardio machines, free weights, strength-training equipment, fitness accessories, and recreational programming.

The Fitness Centre Maintenance Support Staff will play an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and well-functioning Fitness Centre for Yukon University students and employees.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, is looking for a flexible work schedule, enjoys fitness and recreation, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable taking initiative and working independently. The successful candidate will work closely with Student Engagement staff to identify and address maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and equipment concerns.

This role would be particularly well suited to someone who:
• Has an interest in fitness, recreation, athletics, or wellness.
• Takes pride in keeping spaces clean and organized.
• Has strong attention to detail.
• Notices when something is broken, dirty, misplaced, or unsafe and takes action.
• Is comfortable working independently.
• Can prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively.
• Has good problem-solving skills.
• Is comfortable doing hands-on work such as cleaning, organizing, moving equipment, and completing basic maintenance tasks.
• Is physically capable of safely moving Fitness Centre equipment and supplies when required.
• Communicates clearly and professionally.
• Comfortable reporting issues rather than attempting repairs beyond their knowledge or authority.
• Demonstrates respect for YukonU’s facilities, policies, and community.

The following would be considered assets:
• Previous experience working in a gym, fitness centre, recreation facility, athletic facility, or similar environment.
• Experience with cleaning, facility maintenance, equipment maintenance, or custodial work.
• Knowledge of strength-training and cardio equipment.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
