Kathryn Oviatt is the Chief of the Commission and Tribunals of the Alberta Human Rights Commission. Before being appointed Chief, she was appointed for 3 terms as a Member of the Commission and has sat on many boards and tribunals. She has published more than 150 public decisions, many leading cases in Alberta human rights law.
Ms. Oviatt has spent her entire legal career practicing administrative law, including human rights, labour and employment, professional regulation, privacy, policing, and education. Since 2015, she has exclusively practiced as a neutral adjudicator, including as a labour arbitrator.
She was recently announced to be amongst the King’s Counsel designation recipients for 2024.
