FASD has been a topic of discussion for the last 50 years yet remains shrouded in questions. This 1-day introductory course, FASD- Informed Support, seeks to answer some of the uncertainties around this misunderstood disability. Anyone wanting to learn the basics of how this disability occurs, how it impacts people in various ways, and how to best respond to someone who may or may not have FASD are encouraged to register. This course approaches FASD with respect, dignity, and a commitment to uphold inherent human worth for all people impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure. Dispel the myths and learn the most up to date research around Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder in this full day learning opportunity.
The expected outcomes for participants are:
• to better understand why FASD is not “100% preventable”
• to know the volume of people impacted by FASD
• to gain an understanding of how to create more productive environments for people impacted by this disability.
