Decision Making

Description:

Course Description

A solid decision-making process is key to well-written decisions. This 14-hour course is designed for individuals who are administrative decision-makers, but it is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to make consistent, rational, defendable and fact-based decisions. Participants work with a model for decision-making to gain confidence in its use. The course covers key elements of solid decision making: identifying and framing the issues, interpreting the legislation, identifying and applying the relevant legal tests, sorting and weighing the evidence, and applying the relevant facts to the legislation. The purpose of the course is to provide a logical framework for decision making, describe the decision-making model, provide opportunities to practice with a decision-making mode and with a variety of exercises and different tools, and build competencies in defensible decision making. The course includes large and small group discussions and exercises, along with scenarios applicable to a variety of decision-makers.
