Crane Operator

Description:

This comprehensive 24-hour course provides participants with an intensive introduction to heavy lifting, safe crane operational expectations, and essential rigging and hoisting practices. Designed for individuals seeking to enhance their competence in heavy lifting, the program covers safe operational practices, industry standards, and regulations. Participants will learn how to operate cranes and hoists effectively while exploring various types of slings, their applications, and proper storage. Additionally, the course emphasizes hand signals, knots, bends, hitches, and workplace safety regulations.

Crane Operators in the Yukon are required to carry "proof of competence" by Yukon Workers' Compensation Health and Safety Board (YWCHSB). The instructor will introduce each participant to the necessary steps to become certified by BC Crane, recognized Crane Operator certification in the Yukon. Crane Operator Certification will be completed once the necessary training hours are logged and a BC Crane certified assessor has passed your practical skills assessment.

Yukon University would like to acknowledge the subsidy provided by Yukon Workers' Compensation Health and Safety Board.
