Salary: Level 3 Step 1 ($2,402.40 bi-weekly)

Reporting to the Assets & Camp Supervisor, this position is responsible for the oversight, maintenance and care of Nänkäk Chèholay. The primary duties of the position include: site care and maintenance, equipment readiness and control, liaison with work crews, staff and TH citizens, orientation and tour information for visitors and tourists, and for assisting TH Departments with programs, special events, projects and gatherings at Nänkäk Chèholay.  The NC Caretaker will be assigned to Nänkäk Chèholay / Land of Plenty and will be required to live there. 

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  

  • Completion of Grade 10. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered. 
  • Experience in performing basic repairs, renovations and building maintenance tasks.  
  • Experience living and / or working in remote sites while maintaining a safe, clean and organized camp. Basic knowledge of small engine maintenance and repairs.  
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.  
  • Knowledge of hazards and safe work practices.  
  • Experience in dealing with the public in a host capacity.  
  • Basic knowledge of National and Yukon Building Codes, or a willingness to learn.  
  • Exceptional interpersonal / people / hospitality skills.

Assets: 

  • ATV experience and safety course, or willing to take.  
  • Knowledge of TH culture and traditions. 

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.  
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract. 
  • Remote First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain. 
  • Training / experience in ATV Operation. 
  • Bear Aware / Safety Training, or willing to take. 
  • Willingness to be on-call for emergencies and stay overnight at Nänkäk Chèholay, as requested by the supervisor.
