Northwestel is hiring a detail-oriented Revenue Assurance Analyst to join the Accounting and Finance team! This position reports to the Manager, Accounting and is responsible for examining and investigating revenue streams. This position assists in resolving problems, which increases confidence in Northwestel’s revenue generating systems and revenue results. The resulting reports will allow for informed strategic and tactical decisions.

General Accountability 

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Revenue Assurance Analyst is responsible for examining and investigating revenue streams. This analytical assurance work proves that revenue exists, is complete and properly recorded. This ensures that material problems are identified and the Revenue Assurance Analyst assists in resolving the problem, which increases confidence in Northwestel’s revenue generating systems and revenue results. The resulting reports will allow for informed strategic and tactical decisions.

Specific Accountabilities 

  • Conducts regular examinations of accounting, financial, operating and computer system controls within NorthwesTel that relate to revenue assurance; 
  • Investigates irregularities or questionable examination results and documents findings;
  • Recommends solutions for identified problems;
  • Assists in implementing solutions;
  • Follow-up at next regular examination or earlier as required; and
  • Summarizes results for review by others.
  • Other assigned duties as required.
  • Actively participate in the Health & Safety program by working in compliance with OH&S Acts and Regulations, completing required training and reporting immediately to your Supervisor or Workplace H & S Committee member any work-related hazards and concerns.

Knowledge and Competencies Required 

  • A University degree in Business or Commerce or Information Systems.
  • Minimum two years experience with data analysis.
  • Revenue accounting knowledge or experience is an asset.
  • Business acumen and strong analytical skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of both PC and mainframe environments, along with proficiency in a data base querying language, preferably SQL. 
  • Efficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of services, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems such as, networks and switching, customer order, file transfer, and billing would be an asset.
  • Must score 70% or above on the Microsoft Excel test.
  • Must score 26 or above on the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test.
  • Participation in organizational health and safety and/or knowledge of H&S regulations in Canada, will be considered an asset.
  • As part of the recruitment process for this position, candidates may be required to take pre-employment tests and/or complete work simulation exercise to assess job fit.
