This position develops, analyzes and models Customer, Network and Operational data to quantify the performance of business segments, evaluate operational changes, and design new approaches and methodologies. Analyses organizational data to recommend solutions to new and complex problems, develops innovative strategies, quantifies the performance of the organization's operations and/or markets, models, and evaluates the potential impact of changes. Such activities include the collection and analysis of internal metrics, based on the Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) processes of Service Assurance, Service Activation, Service Reliability and Service Availability, as well as the integration of Market/Industry information from Bell Canada and other sources to help guide the strategic planning process.

Key Accountabilities

Working closely with Business Units to engage, align, develop and implement a consolidated business intelligence framework, the successful candidate will need to:

  1. Combine a good understanding of how a business operates with analytical ability to sift effectively through data available, overlaying all this with the technical competency to illustrate this analysis to senior-level stakeholders and the wider business.
  2. Develop the data model framework that accounts for data growth and expansion to include new data sources. Create the strategies to import, cleanse and associate data across the data model.
  3. Develop, analyze and model operational, economic, management, accounting and other organizational data to quantify the competitive performance of business segments.
  4. Analyze large quantities of data and presents insights and predictions to support management planning, execution and monitoring of business decisions.
  5. Partner with internal customer groups to understand their business process. Identify Gaps between different business processes and offer recommendations to mitigate Gaps.
  6. Work with the Executive Strategic Direction to provide ways in which targeted data analytics can support the Strategic Direction and contribute to Northwestel's overall success.
  7. Facilitate ongoing discussions with Bell Canada to leverage Northwestel's Business Intelligence capability and potentially fill current or future internal business needs.
  8. Conduct ongoing assessment of business needs through the deep understanding of customer demands, organizational demands and changing business needs to ensure that the integrated plan and solutions are aligned with business requirements;

Knowledge and Competencies Required

  1. Master of Business Administration (MBA) combined with a technical degree, diploma or relevant business design course work;
  2. Minimum five (5) years of data analysis experience in business support operations or Customer Intelligence, including but not limited to:
    1. Data modelling;
    2. Development of a data governance strategy;
    3. Business process design and analysis;
    4. Development of business metrics;
    5. Risk management;
  3. Demonstrated experience in a metrics-driven culture will be considered an asset;
  4. Demonstrated experience in the understanding of business functions;
  5. Proven ability to work in a team environment delivering results on time and on budget, adapting quickly to changing conditions and deliverables;
  6. Exceptional skills in communication (written, oral and listening), logical analysis, critical thinking, stakeholder management, conceptualization, analytics, leadership, team building, presentation, problem-solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
