Title: Tree Planting Supervisor
Term: Temporary Employment

Hourly Pay: $30
Schedule: 10 -hour shifts Monday to Friday
Location: Mary Lake and Copper Haul Road South, Whitehorse.

 

Lumberfolk Forest Consultants are seeking a Tree Planting Supervisor to join their team! The position is temporary employment from May 20^th – June 30^th. The Tree Planting Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of tree planters as part of tree planting operations for wildfire mitigation and fuel management strategies within Whitehorse.   

 

Duties
Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Onboarding
• Leading daily safety talks and being the designated first aid attendant
• Transportation of seedlings to the block and setting up internal caches
• Auditing tree planter quality throughout the day
• Reporting on number of seedlings planted each day  
• Managing a team of tree planters by providing feedback, giving direction, and problem solving
• Driving company vehicles and ATVs

Lumberfolk Forest Consultants Ltd. was founded in 2024. Lumberfolk provide forest management and land use planning services within all forest types across Canada. The company works with landowners to develop and design land use plans that meet their environmental, social, and economic goals and objectives. Lumberfolk have experience designing inventories and methodologies for data collection, summarizing results and mapping for operational planning, analyzing scenarios, reporting on assumptions, limitations, risks and sensitives, developing monitoring plans, and making recommendations. Services also include timber harvesting, block layout, reconnaissance, timber cruising, tree planting, forest inventory data collection, silviculture surveys, and field trainings. Based out of Whitehorse, YT, the Lumberfolk team is looking for a Tree Planting Supervisor to work Monday – Friday this spring to manage tree planting operations in Whitehorse.
 

Qualifications

Desired qualifications for this position include:

• Strong leadership skills and awareness of team morale
• Strong communication skills and experience working in a team environment
• Experience tree planting is an asset
• Knowledge of the outdoors in the Yukon Territory
• Standard First Aid is considered an asset
• Ability to lift 20 pounds repetitively throughout the day
