Title: Tree Planter  

Term: Temporary Employment

Paid Per Tree: $0.16  - $0.18  per tree (pay is commensurate with quality)

Schedule: 8 -hour shifts Monday to Friday
Location: Mary Lake and Copper Haul Road South, Whitehorse.

 

Lumberfolk Forest Consultants are seeking Tree Planters to join their team! The position is temporary employment from May 20th – June 30th. Tree Planters will be responsible for working with a team to plant trembling aspen seedlings as part of wildfire mitigation and fuel management strategies within Whitehorse.   

 

Duties
Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Onboarding
  • Participating in daily safety talks
  • Management and handling of seedlings for distribution
  • Planting seedlings with careful attention to density, spacing, placement, and location
  • Meeting daily quality control thresholds

Lumberfolk Forest Consultants Ltd. was founded in 2024. Lumberfolk provide forest management and land use planning services within all forest types across Canada. The company works with landowners to develop and design land use plans that meet their environmental, social, and economic goals and objectives. Lumberfolk have experience designing inventories and methodologies for data collection, summarizing results and mapping for operational planning, analyzing scenarios, reporting on assumptions, limitations, risks and sensitives, developing monitoring plans, and making recommendations. Services also include timber harvesting, block layout, reconnaissance, timber cruising, tree planting, forest inventory data collection, silviculture surveys, and field trainings. Based out of Whitehorse, YT, the Lumberfolk team is looking for Tree Planters to work Monday – Friday this spring to complete tree planting operations in Whitehorse.
 

Qualifications

Desired qualifications for this position include:

  • Strong communication skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Experience tree planting
  • Knowledge of the outdoors in the Yukon Territory
  • Standard First Aid is considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail for planting exceptional quality trees
