Reporting to the Social Assistance & Support Administrator, this position directly supervises, mentors, supports and coordinates the activities of the Tr’ëhudè crew comprised of citizens entering the workforce under TH Mentorship Program initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the Tr’ëhudè Crew including planning and organizing tasks assigned by various TH Departments, supervising crew members, identifying opportunities for personal and professional skills development, implementing learning and training plans assisting crew members with tasks through mentorship and coaching.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent) and two years’ experience working in Trades, Project Management, Human Services or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Minimum one year working in a supervisory role, with demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
- A strong understanding of inter-generational trauma, effects of colonialism, socio-economic issues and various challenges faced by Tr’ondek Hwech’in citizens in the community.
- Knowledge of existing community health, wellness, education and employment programs and services, with ability to make referrals, as needed.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and an ability to demonstrate safe work practices relating to construction and general building/grounds maintenance.
- Experience working in construction, carpentry or general maintenance with ability to operate power tools and equipment.
- Previous experience working for a First Nation Government an asset.
- Knowledge of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in history, culture, goals, traditional territory and heritage sites.
Conditions of Employment:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Certification in safety courses for ATV operation or willingness to obtain.
- Willingness to take training in safety practices and safe operation of power tools and equipment, including chainsaws.
- Standard First Aid certification or a willingness to obtain.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, ability to drive a standard vehicle, and a Clear Driver’s Abstract
- Class 4 driver’s license an asset.
- TDG and WHMIS or willingness to obtain.
- TH101 Cultural Awareness Training
