The Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is looking for a dedicated and skilled Human Resources Advisor to join our HR team. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, this role is essential in supporting the recruitment and HR activities that help our community thrive.

 

Key Responsibilities

As an HR Advisor, you will:

  • Lead recruitment processes, including creating and updating job descriptions, preparing job advertisements, and identifying effective advertising methods.
  • Collaborate with departmental representatives to develop interview questions and assessments tailored to specific roles.
  • Chair selection committees to ensure fair and consensus-based hiring decisions.
  • Conduct comprehensive reference checks and extend employment offers.
  • Assist in maintaining the database and ensuring accurate employee records.
  • Support onboarding and orientation activities for new employees.
  • Track and follow up on performance evaluation deadlines to ensure timely completion.
  • Contribute to other HR generalist duties as required, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.

 

Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume)An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.

 

  • Post Secondary Education in Human Resource or related discipline combined with knowledge & experience in recruitment and HR processes, preferably in a federally regulated workplace
  • Experience coordinating and leading recruitment processes and activities (e.g. posting job ads, preparing assessment material, conducting references, booking interviews, etc.;
  • Experience drafting and modifying job advertisements & job descriptions is an asset; and
  • Experience providing client service.

 Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

 

Conditions of Employment: An acceptable Criminal Records Check; Valid Yukon class 5 driver’s license

*KDFN has a generous employer paid benefits and matching pension package that commences after 3 months of continued employment plus paid leave accruals. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day (1820 hours per year).
