Reporting to the Director of Wellness, the Social Programs and Services Manager oversees the development and delivery of social assistance and supports, Elders supports and community outreach services on behalf of the TH Government. In addition to coordinating client case management and other social and wellness services and programs in Dawson City (in collaboration with interagency teams), the incumbent provides office management and administrative support to the Department, and supervises and supports a team of employees. The incumbent liaises with other governments (Canada, Yukon, other self-governing Yukon First Nations) and non-government agencies, and represents the TH Government in consultations, advisory committees, working groups and negotiations with respect to health services and programming issues and challenges.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Criminology, Psychology, Counselling or a related field of study combined with a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing community-based wellness and social programs. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, manage, evaluate and report on holistic programs / services delivery.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of addictions and basic prevention strategies.
- Prior experience coordinating treatment options for individuals, as well as creating and providing pre-treatment, treatment and aftercare opportunities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the importance of land-based healing initiatives to advancing First Nations community wellness.
- Demonstrated experience with budget and financial management.
- Demonstrated experience managing, supervising, coaching and performance managing staff members.
- Experience in obtaining and administering funding and grant proposals.
Assets:
- Prior experience in working with or in a First Nation Government, and in the delivery of social programs and services is an asset.
- Knowledge of restorative justice approach to using restorative practices to manage conflict.
- Knowledge of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in government structure, culture, traditions, history, demographics, family structures and socio-economic dynamics, challenges, and aspirations.
