Settlement Land Use Coordinator - Permanent

Salary:  Level 8 Step 1 ($95,335.50 annually)

Reporting to the Land and Resources Manager, the incumbent is responsible for administering and analyzing land use permits and land grant applications pursuant to the TH Government’s Land and Resources Act.   

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  

  • A post-secondary degree in geography, environmental assessment, natural resource management or a related field, and a minimum of two years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of permit processing, development assessments and land registration.
  • Knowledge of land and resource issues, development activities, legislation and regulations affecting the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and other Yukon First Nations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Excellent record management, organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, research, analytical and critical review skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be tactful and respectful, effectively manage workplace stress, maintain strict confidentiality of information (where appropriate) and to exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Assets:  

  • Experience with GIS software, creating maps, managing spatial data and using GPS devices in the field are assets.
  • Knowledge of TH Settlement Land, and of TH values, culture and traditions.
  • Familiarity with the TH Final Agreement, TH Self-Government Agreement and TH Constitution.
  • Knowledge and experience with records management systems and experience using database software are assets.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Standard First Aid and willingness to take Remote First Aid.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract.
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
