Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a term Registered Nurse for our home and community care unit. Reporting to the Manager, Home & Community Care, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing community based nursing for the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. The incumbents will work closely with other community affiliates in the provision and coordination of programs and services to clients.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to establish & maintain trust based relationships and demonstrate a high level of professional ethics. You must be willing to balance modern ways and modalities with traditional practice of the Kwanlin Dün people, and navigate the social structure, social conditions, and dynamics prevailing in the community and greater Whitehorse community.
Registered Nurse Diploma or Degree and current registration in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA);
- Experience in northern community based and community health nursing would be an asset;
- Recently applied knowledge of theory, practice and techniques of a registered nurse, acquired through current work experience with individuals, families, vulnerable populations and Elders;
- Current experience in rural community based or community health nursing would be an asset;
- Knowledge of the socioeconomic history of the Yukon First Nations/importance of spiritual beliefs and traditional healing practices.
For success in the role one must have an in-depth knowledge of aboriginal health and social issues, have knowledge of Federal & Territorial Government regulatory requirements and sponsorships and, knowledge of Yukon First Nation history, culture, demographics, goals & aspirations.

Conditions of Employment: valid Class 5 Driver’s license (class 4 is an asset); TDG Certification; Yukon Certificate Immunization Competency (willing to obtain within 2 months of hire); immunizations and current TB Clearance; Security Clearance with vulnerable sector completion; First Aid & CPR; YRNA Registration.
Job Requirements: travel within Whitehorse city limits, exposure to second hand smoke, pets and home visits, lifting up to 50 lbs. as part of client care and transfers, exposure to latex products and other irritants; exposure to weather while assisting clients outside, limited evening or weekend work.
Salary: $76,532 - $100,394 per annum based on a 70 hours biweekly (Level 7)
