Northwestel is actively seeking an enthusiastic Purchasing Clerk to join the team! As a Purchasing Clerk, you will support the Purchasing Department with invoicing, expenses purchases and relief coverage, and more!

Specific Accountabilities

  • Monitor the queue for Purchasing Requisitions
  • Process standard Purchasing Requisitions for orders under $2500 to vendors
  • Assist Buyers in data collection for Request for Quote (collecting point of contact names for vendors to participate in a RFQ)
  • Assist Buyers with internal documentation collection for processing of purchase orders
  • Verifying and coding freight invoices and forwarding to accounts payable for payment.
  • Maintain Purchasing filing system: Purchase Orders, receiving documents, competitive bidding documents, Capital I1’s,
  • Clerical support for competitive bid process: Issuing amendments, receipt of support documents,
  • Maintain various logs and databases as required: freight and customs,
  • Prepare purchasing files for archiving.
  • Provide training and support as required on Requisition Entry module of JD Edwards
  • Update purchasing documents as required: Vendor Guide, Carriers, Vendor contact lists
  • Preparation of reports (JDE System, CATs) as required.
  • Vacation Relief for Buyers, Supply Chain Coordinator and Inventory control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • 1-2 years similar experience in a similar purchasing support function.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate or Diploma program is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, file management, and basic accounting is required.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education and demonstrated basic numeracy and literacy skills.
