Pre/Post-Natal Cultural Coordinator – Term
Department: Ni'ehłyat, Nidähjì’   (Our Families, Our Future)

Salary:  Level 8 Step 1 ($3,770.25 bi-weekly)

Reporting to the Director of Ni'ehłyat Nidähjì’ (NN), the incumbent develops and delivers culturally focused pre/post natal (age 0-5) programs and services to Citizens. The incumbent liaises, coordinates and supports programming and networking with other NN Department staff to ensure that TH families, children and infants can access holistic Indigenous and traditional teachings and ceremonies. The incumbent liaises with other government and non-governmental agencies, and serves as a TH Government representative in various capacities, including, but not limited to, consultations, advisory committees and working groups regarding pre/post-natal services and programs. The incumbent works directly with families in providing holistic and culturally based programs and supports, including family planning, educational workshops and referrals.   

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  

  • A post-secondary degree in a health or social field, with a minimum of two years of experience supporting new parents, infants, families and children; an equivalent combination of education, certificates, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of TH social structure, traditions and cultural values, and the health, social and family issues affecting First Nation people.
  • Strong knowledge of holistic case management and trauma informed practices.
  • Experience with financial management, including budgets, resource management and funding proposal development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, manage, evaluate and report on policy, holistic programs and service delivery.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with Jeje’in, Citizens, families and general public.

Assets:  

  • Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, negotiations and problem solving.
  • Previous experience working in a First Nation Government or working directly with First Nations to deliver health/social programs and services.
  • Knowledge and experience in gaining information and teachings from Elders, Citizens and families, and incorporating this information into programs and supports.
