Do you want to make a difference in your community? Do you like helping others? Working for FASSY could be the right place for you! We are actively seeking an Indigenous team member to help provide support that is reflective of the clients we serve.
Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the successful candidate will provide outreach services and support to individuals and families impacted by Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (PAE) and FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). Based out of our main office, located on Black Street, the work is conducted in various community settings. Duties will include providing direct services and support to clients, as well as collaborating with community partners to advance service users' care plans.
This is a full-time employment opportunity working from 8:30 am to 5 pm daily, Monday to Friday.
The pay rate is competitive, paid biweekly, and benefits commence after a successful 6-month probationary period.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have education, training, and/or experience in a health or social field
- Have strong knowledge of the Yukon and Whitehorse community
- Demonstrate cultural competency and be willing to engage in ongoing training
- Have strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Be a team player and be able to work independently
- Have computer competency, including Word, Excel, Outlook, essential internet, and social media
- Have a strong understanding of and demonstrate boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality in their work
- Have experience working in the health and social field with vulnerable individuals and those in crisis
- Have an understanding of homelessness and issues that surround high-risk and vulnerable persons' access to services and support.
- Have knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity and FASD
- Have experience and understanding of working with individuals with addictions and mental health challenges.
- Police Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector check
- Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver's License and a vehicle that can be insured for transporting clients* (Mandatory Requirement)
- SFA/CPR
