Are you a visionary leader with a deep understanding of First Nation governance, a commitment to ethical leadership, and the ability to bring people together? Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking an Executive Director to lead our administration and help shape the future of our Nation.
About the Role
The Executive Director is the senior administrative leader of KDFN, working closely with Council to implement the vision, strategies, and goals. As the primary liaison between Council and government operations, this role ensures that policies, programs, and initiatives are delivered effectively and in alignment with Council direction and KDFN values.
You will guide and mentor a team of directors , oversee the Nation’s administrative operations, and represent KDFN in key partnerships with other governments, corporations, and organizations. This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact within a self-governing First Nation.Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Council.
- Oversee program delivery and policy implementation.
- Lead annual budget development and financial oversight.
- Foster partnerships with other governments, agencies, and companies (such as Chu Niikwan LP.).
- Represent the Nation in community forums and public gatherings.
Required Qualifications: An equivalent combination of post-secondary education, combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.
- Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, or a related field, with extensive senior-level experience in First Nations governance. An equivalent combination of education and lived/work experience may be considered.
- Experience in First Nations governance, including self-government agreements, government programs, and administration.
- Experience in policy development, program evaluation, and financial management.
- Leadership experience in managing/leading a team of employees (including performance management).

- Strong knowledge of Kwanlin Dün traditions, culture, and governance.
- Conflict management, mediation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent executive leadership and administration skills.
- Budget development and financial oversight.
- Ability to lead policy and program development.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
