Reporting to the Manager, Information Management & Technology the Systems Administrator is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and reviewing hardware functions within KDFN systems, including computer workstations, network devices, printers, telephones and security devices; and for the seamless integration of hardware functions with parallel software functions provided by the Network Administrator. 

 

As a front-line member of the Information Technology (IT) team, the incumbent must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, along with a high level of client service. The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and simply to staff with varying levels of IT knowledge is essential. This role also requires well-developed organizational, time management, troubleshooting, task prioritization, and conflict resolution skills.

Required Qualifications (what we look/screen for on your resume):
 

  • Diploma/degree in IT or related field (or equivalent experience). (mandatory)
  • Progressive IT ops experience in an Indigenous government/public sector or comparable environment. (mandatory)
  • Admin of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2019/2022. (mandatory)
  • Networking fundamentals (switches/APs, VLANs, VPN), VoIP, printers, and routers/firewalls. Backup/DR (mandatory)
  • Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams); basic PowerShell.
  • Assets: CompTIA A+/N+, Microsoft Administrator certs, ITIL Foundation.


Knowledge of Kwanlin Dun First Nations community, heritage and culture, family structures and traditions is required for success in this position.


Conditions of Employment: A satisfactory pre-employment criminal records check; valid class 5 Driver’s Licence with access to personal vehicle an asset;
Job Requirements: Occasional travel within KDFN community and Whitehorse, heavy lifting is required at times, occasional evening and weekend work hours are required.
