We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Economic Development Advisor to join our First Nation government to support and drive economic growth within our community. As an Economic Development Advisor, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing projects, programs and strategies to enhance our economic capabilities and improve the overall well-being of our community.
Reporting to the Director of Economic Development, the Senior Economic Development Advisor (SEDA) is responsible for providing value-added business development support and project management services to Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) government. The SEDA assists in the management and development of projects and programs that contribute to economic growth within the KDFN community, programing that supports entrepreneur opportunities and capacity, and performs other community economic development opportunities as required. This position supports the strategic directions as set out in the KDFN Strategic Plan.
The Senior Economic Development Advisor may be responsible for supervising a Mentorship position which includes providing functional day-to-day guidance and training supports to each as needed.Required Qualifications (what we look/screen for on your resume):
- Knowledge of the core principles and practices associated with economic development normally acquired through a degree in Economics, Economic Development, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
- Extensive experience in contract and project management, including evaluation and financial management;
- Proven experience in economic development, preferably working with Indigenous communities or First Nations.
Required knowledge and skills (what we assess):
- Proven abilities and experience in contract and project/program management and delivery;
- Strong knowledge of economic development principles, strategies, and project management practices;
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to conduct research and analyze data to inform decision-making;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build relationships;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision;
- Good financial knowledge with critical program evaluation and relationship management skills; and
- Understanding and respect for the cultural values, traditions, and aspirations of the KDFN community.
Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First Nation governance structure, our community, heritage and culture, social structure, language and traditions, goals, and aspirations are essential for success in this position.
Conditions of employment: an acceptable pre-employment Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector search, valid class 5 Driver’s License with access to a personal vehicle; Standard First Aid & CPR (asset).
Job Requirements: Occasional travel within and outside of Yukon.
Salary: $76,531.00 to $124,433.40 per annum ($42.05 - $68.37/hr.) Level 7 *plus benefits
