Kwanlin Dün First Nation’s (KDFN) Finance Department is seeking a General Finance Clerk to join their team. Reporting to the Finance Comptroller, the Finance Clerk is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities relating to the preparation and processing of all Kwanlin Dun First Nation accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent organizational and time management skills.  Solid computer skills, a positive attitude, good verbal and written communication skills and desire to work together as a team are required. 

Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume):

  • Certificate or coursework in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in accounts payable and receivable
  • Experience with month-end and year-end reconciliations and reports
  • Knowledge of KDFN history, culture, and community would be an asset.

Knowledge and skills (what we may assess/interview on):

  • Proficient in Adagio Accounting, Microsoft Word, and Excel;
  • Effective organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, and prioritize work to meet critical and changing demands and deadlines;
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills;
  • Builds and maintains respectful, professional relationships with clients, vendors, and members of the public.
  • Ability to work successfully independently and in a team environment;
  • Uses strong research skills to resolve inquiries, verify information, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Patient, diplomatic, with effective conflict resolution skills.

Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

Conditions of Employment & Job Requirements:

  • An acceptable criminal records check
  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence.

Salary: $61,315.80 - $99,717.80 annual (33.69/hr - $54.79/hr) – Level 5; Based on 35 hours weekly; & a generous employer paid benefits package after 3 months
