As the Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting positive and productive working relationships across the organization. This position focuses on coaching and supporting supervisors, managers, and directors in navigating employee and labour relations matters, with a strong emphasis on performance management, conflict resolution, and respectful workplace practices.

The successful candidate will provide guidance on the interpretation and application of employment legislation, human rights and Kwanlin Dün First Nation policies and procedures. Using a trauma-informed and culturally respectful approach, the Employee Relations Specialist will help leaders address workplace challenges, support employee well-being, and ensure fair, consistent, and effective people management practices.

Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume)An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.

  • Diploma in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or a related field. Equivalency will be considered for those with extensive relevant experience.
  • Experience providing advice and support to partners/clients either through labour relations, accommodations, human resources or another advisory capacity;
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of HR practices and government/legislation, such as the Canada Labour Code;
  • Experience in recruitment and selection process and performance management; and
  • Certification/Coursework in conflict resolution, Psychological Safety, or mediation is an asset.

Required knowledge and skills (what we assess/may interview on):

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Conflict Resolution skills; and
  • Professional work ethic.

Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

Conditions of employment: an acceptable pre-employment criminal records check with vulnerable sector search.

Salary:                            $76,531 to $124,433.40 per annum ($42.05- $68.37/hr) Level 7 *plus benefits
