Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a compassionate, driven, and culturally grounded Child and Family Support Case Coordinator to join our Justice Department. About the Role

Building strong, respectful, and trusting relationships with families

• Developing collaborative family plans to support wellness, safety, and kinship connection

• Advocating for children in care and those involved in the child welfare system

• Coordinating wrap-around services and facilitating family planning circles

• Responding to crises with culturally informed, trauma-responsive interventions

• Working closely with Elders, RCMP, FCS, health care providers, legal advocates, and educators

• Upholding family rights, cultural access, and dignity in every interaction

About the Role

Implementing prevention supports and intervention activities are paramount work within the KDFN Child & Family Supports team.  Reporting to the Manager, Child and Family Supports (or delegate), the successful candidate will be proficient in case planning, management, evaluation, relationship building and able to prioritize working with the cultural components of the larger Justice team and KDFN community. The ability to meaningfully engage and work with families, prioritizing child wellness and safety is a fundamental element to the position. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability working with families to assess needs, strengths, develop and implement collaborative family plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and relationship building skills, a deep understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma, creative problem solving, child protection processes and legislation, and a commitment to trauma-informed and culturally relevant support.

Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume):  An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.

Required knowledge and skills (what we assess):

  • Knowledge of child and family service legislation, Indigenous child welfare values, and trauma-informed practices is essential.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and crisis intervention skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various partners.
    • Knowledge of community resources and support agencies available to families.
    • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach towards clients.


Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

Conditions of Employment:  an acceptable pre-employment criminal records check with vulnerable sector search, valid class 5 Driver’s License First Aid & CPR-C; Food Safe Level 1; TB Clearance.
