As a part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in launching a law program designed to serve the people, values, and communities of Yukon and Northern Canada.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President, Academic, the Northern Director of Law will lead the development and launch of a Law Program at Yukon University, in collaboration with the Yukon Law Education Society, the Southern University Partner, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Coordination
• Lead the development and launch of the Yukon University Law Program in collaboration with partner institutions and organizations.
• Coordinate participation among partner and sponsor organizations to ensure effective collaboration between faculty, students, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of admission criteria and academic standards in partnership with the Southern Director of Law and the Law Society of Yukon.Program Promotion and Funding
• Promote the Yukon Law Program across the territory and beyond.
• Secure funding and financial support for the program’s first three years and establish a sustainable foundation for ongoing operations.
• Oversee acquisition and development of facilities, including student housing, and ensure access to library and learning resources.Student and Academic Support
• Collaborate with YukonU’s Registrar’s Office and Student Life Unit and the Southern Director to ensure prospective and current students have access to YukonU’s student services, including financial aid and sponsorship options.
• Support academic policy alignment between Yukon University and the Southern University Partner.
• Track, analyze, and report key performance metrics for program success.Partnership and Community Engagement
• Liaise with Yukon First Nations governments and communities, the Law Society of Yukon, and other relevant organizations to strengthen program relevance and impact.
• Report regularly to Yukon University, the Yukon Law Education Society, and other stakeholders on program operations and progress.
• Support student pathways to bar admission in partnership with professional legal organizations.Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working across Yukon communities and with First Nations governments.
• Experience in a post-secondary or academic environment.
• Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) preferred but not required.
• Proven project management and partnership development skills.
• Experience in fundraising, financial administration, and program development.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and intercultural competencies.For more information, please contact:
