Reporting to the Moosehide Caretaker, this position carries out various maintenance and repairs to TH community buildings and grounds keeping tasks at the Moosehide Village (MV). The incumbent will occasionally assist with various summer camps and special events. The Moosehide Caretaker will arrange for maintenance and emergency repairs of small engines and other small equipment used at MV. The incumbent will also be required to provide boat shuttle services as needed for TH work crews, citizens, guests, special projects or events and meetings that are scheduled to occur at MV. This position will also greet and show visitors around MV.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 10. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
- Basic knowledge of hazards and safe work practices.
- Ability to work with the public in a host capacity.
- Experience with driving boats and ATVs an asset.
- Some knowledge of basic repairs, renovations and building maintenance tasks an asset.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- On-the-land and off-grid experience an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment, and sensitive and understanding of First Nation culture and traditions.
Conditions of Employment:
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clear driver’s abstract an asset.
- Certification in safety courses for boat driving and ATV operation or willingness to obtain.
- Remote First Aid or willingness to obtain.
- Willingness to take training and keep current in building maintenance and safety practices and safe operation of power tools and equipment.
- Willingness to be on-call for weekend or evening work if required.
- Bear Aware training, or willingness to take.
- TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
