Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Major Capital Projects to lead the planning, execution, and completion of significant infrastructure projects for KDFN. Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our capital projects meet community needs, comply with regulations, and align with our strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with departments to define and plan new capital projects.
  • Develop budgets, secure lands, and obtain necessary permits.
  • Lead contractor and consultant selection, ensuring timely and efficient project execution.
  • Oversee all phases of construction, from conceptual planning to project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with zoning, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Director and Council.
  • Transition completed projects to operational departments, including final inspections and addressing deficiencies.


 

Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume):  An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, construction management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing large capital projects or infrastructure builds.
  • Experience with First Nation governments and policies is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks, deadlines, schedules and resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify problems, analyze situations and develop effective solutions.



 

 

Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
