Position: MAJOR COMMUNITIES PROJECT COORDINATOR

Salary: $24/hr

Type: 30 hours a week

Term: 12 weeks (Extension may be possible)

Yukon Women in Mining (YukonWIM) is a regional not-for-profit organization, founded in 2012, dedicated to the ongoing advancement of a diverse, inclusive, respectful, and progressive mineral sector that supports healthy and prosperous Yukon citizens and communities. Together we encourage, empower, educate, and elevate women, youth, and communities for an inclusive and diverse minerals sector, supporting a culture that values all individuals. We also plan incredible fun, interactive and engaging projects that connect women, youth, and communities with Yukon’s diverse minerals sector.

Opportunity Summary

As the Project Coordinator, you’ll provide project coordination, communications and social media management and administrative support, to engage women, youth and Yukon communities in Yukon’s mineral sector as part of educational, interactive and impactful programming. The 12-week position will focus on the development and planning of YukonWIM’s successful Yukon Mining Days program, including developing planning templates, member and partner outreach, logistical event support, social media and various other tasks in the lead-up, day of, and wrap-up of events and projects. This may also include support for the Board of Directors and project team.

Education in project and event management or equivalent professional experience is an asset.
Experience working with or supporting a non-profit organization and board and working with a membership - including any volunteer positions.,
Experience in planning and coordination of meetings, events, projects and travel.
Experience maintaining detailed and organized records and information.
Experience working with digital, online, and social media is an asset.
Experience in office administration is an asset.

This position will be supported by the YukonWIM Board of Directors and provides an opportunity to connect and learn from leaders in diverse industry fields.

Work Location:

The position is based in Whitehorse and an office or remote environment is possible.

Eligible to all Yukoners - in any community if the candidate has demonstrated the ability to work remotely.

Conditions of Employment / Working Conditions

Must possess a valid Yukon (or other Canadian) driver’s license.
