Job Summary:
The incumbent provides general labour for the Transit Services department.
Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Provide general labour duties in the cleaning and general maintenance of department vehicles, transit stops, and other related infrastructure. 

2. Assists in securing transit vehicles, garage and wash bays at the end of shift.

3. Assists in the collection of fares and lost items recovered from buses. 

4. Inserts and removes advertising on buses, shelters and benches. 

5. Assists in maintaining the equipment and suppliés inventories. 

6. Assists in the refueling of buses and other transit vehicles. 

7.Observe and report issues to the appropriate staff. 

8.Support and maintain accurate records. 

9.Acts as Crewlead as needed. 

10.Follows, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards. 

11. Other related duties.

Working Conditions:

This position will be required to work a 40-hour work week. Conditions include, exposure to disagreeable conditions such as
dust, dirt, fumes, odours, grease, oil, noise and temperature extremes & inclement weather when working outside and in the
bus barn/wash bay, and cleaning buses and washrooms.


Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

Completion of Grade 10.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Class 2 is an asset.
Previous Experience - Minimum 1 year custodial and minor mechanical experience
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public and providing assistance in a variety of situations.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Examples of Equipment to Operate:
Cleaning equipment, high pressure washer, mobile radio, and motor coach, handy bus, and parts truck, computers for
communication and ADP, small maintenance and repair tools such as cordless drills and wrenches.
