Description:

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Do you enjoy helping others and have property management experience? If so, this opportunity at FASSY could be the perfect fit for you!

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will coordinate and manage our Landlord’s Working to End Homelessness (LWEH) program. Recognizing that people living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder are at greater risk for experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, this position seeks to provide support to make our current and future tenancies more successful.

FASSY’s model starts with renting private market units from understanding landlords and then housing people under our LWEH program. Through this program, we guarantee to support landlords by ensuring rent is paid directly, offering regular unit visits regarding maintenance of the rented properties, and being the first point of contact for any housing-related issues, reducing involvement for the homeowner. The position of LWEH Coordinator oversees the units and properties, scheduling monthly check-ins in partnership with the program participants' worker, being on call for emergencies, coordinating any maintenance or repairs needed, and seeking out new landlords/properties to join the program. This position requires someone flexible, organized, and responsible for setting their own weekly schedule.

This posting is to fill a two-year term contract with an effective end date of March 31st, 2028; it may be extended depending on funding. The position will be based out of the FASSY office, but most work will occur remotely in and around Whitehorse. This is a 40-hour-per-week position with the expectation that hours be stretched over a 7-day week.

The pay rate is $32 per hour, paid biweekly.

The ideal candidate will:

·         Have education, training, and or experience working with vulnerable people/folks living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

·         Have experience with household maintenance and property management.

·         Have some knowledge of minor property repair and upkeep

·         Demonstrate cultural competency and be willing to engage in ongoing training

·         Have strong communication skills both written and oral

·         Be comfortable engaging with current and prospective landlords

·         Be able to work independently and track their time.

·         Be available for emergency housing support on evenings and weekends.

·         Be comfortable creating and presenting on topics around tenancy success

·         Be willing to represent FASSY at Coordinated Access meetings bi-weekly

·         Be comfortable entering properties where the tenants are struggling with cleanliness and pest issues

·         Have a strong understanding of and demonstrate boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality in their work

·         Be able to assist with tracking and reporting for funding purposes.

Required:

·         Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector check

·         Valid Yukon Class 5 Drivers License and a reliable vehicle
