Yukon University is seeking two dynamic educators to instruct in the Yukon Native Teacher Education Program (YNTEP) and the Bachelor of Education After Degree (BEAD). YNTEP is a Bachelor of Education program credentialed by University of Regina and delivered fully in the Yukon, with an emphasis on teaching in rural, Yukon First Nation communities. The main function of this instructor position is teaching with specific emphasis on culturally responsive teaching practices, the decolonization and Indigenization of pedagogy, and enacting Yukon First Nations educational priorities. The Instructor will also bring current best practices in teacher education, Indigenous education, and teaching and learning in a postsecondary environment into the program.
The ideal candidate will have a master’s or doctorate in Indigenous Education, Indigenous Studies, Teacher Education, Indigenous Teacher Education or a related field. Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and cultural diversity theory and practice in the delivery of educational programming are required. A valid driver’s license is also required.
