The Industrial Safety & Crane Instructor is responsible for delivering classroom and practical training in mobile crane operations and industrial safety while ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, BC Crane Safety requirements, and occupational health and safety legislation. The instructor provides competency-based training, evaluates student performance, and promotes a strong culture of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver classroom and practical instruction for Mobile Crane Operator training programs and industrial safety courses.
• Instruct courses such as Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, Rigging, and other workplace safety programs.
• Ensure training complies with WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, including Part 14 – Cranes and Hoisting Equipment.
• Develop and implement Written Supervision Plans for provisional crane operators as required by WorkSafeBC.
• Assess student competency using BC Crane Safety Competency Profile Charts and applicable industry standards.
• Maintain accurate training records, evaluations, and certification documentation.
• Promote safe work practices and mentor students to achieve industry competency standards.Qualifications
• Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
• B.C. Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal) as a Mobile Crane Operator.
• Active registration in good standing with BC Crane Safety.
• Minimum 8–10 years of incident-free mobile crane operating experience.
• Expert knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, particularly Part 14 – Cranes and Hoisting Equipment.
• Strong communication, presentation, and instructional skills.
• Willingness to become a Certified Practical Assessor through Fulford Certification.
