Course Description - 4D Studio 102
In this studio course students investigate the dimension of time through the mediums of performance and photography. These explorations are undertaken through a series of projects exploring various concepts and techniques for the purpose of developing a foundation to a relevant, contemporary, artistic practice. The course will offer a broad exposure to contemporary art along with critical dialogue and historical context. Students will develop projects that express personal reflections, cultural perspectives, and conceptual aspects, with consideration to place.
The Foundation Year Program at the Yukon School of Visual Arts is a university level program, equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). It is offered in an intensive delivery format. The school year is split into four Quarters; each course is seven weeks long. This position runs in Quarter IV from February 16 to April 17. The end of Quarter IV culminates in the SOVA Final Exhibition, which includes work from all studio classes.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an artistic background in or experience producing and/or instructing in both performance art and photography. A knowledge of contemporary practices in both performance and photography is essential. Technical requirements include professional experience with camera equipment and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop editing software. Candidates should have an MFA or equivalent experience.

The 4D Studio 102 Instructor will be provided with a syllabus that they can adapt to their experience.

The selected candidate will instruct the 4D Studio 102 course for the Yukon School of Visual Arts on-site at the Yukon School of Visual Arts campus in Dawson City as per the terms and conditions of the contract.
