Description:

CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND

Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation (NNDDC) is a forward-thinking Indigenous business organization that prides itself on the work ethic and creativity that our team brings to the table. As a smaller organization, NNDDC seeks to employ individuals who are self-starters and are flexible enough to operate across multiple different industry lines, with the ability to strategically work on files that may be outside of their routine tasks.

The concept of Ihdzí’ - Mayo’s Gathering Place grew out of the resulting positive energy developed through the Yukon University (YukonU) program “Ihdzí’ Ihle Ts’e” (meaning "heart to hand” in Northern Tutchone), and NNDDC's desire to see long term sustainability for the "old cafe" space. There was a resounding desire from the community for a place to gather and connect while pursuing hand-made crafts, food sharing, teaching and learning, and activities that help individuals further their skills as well as personal and professional development. NNDDC and YukonU have partnered to support the vision of creating a safe and inclusive space with low-barrier access to communal infrastructure rooted in the core values of low barrier access, creativity, inclusivity, safety, and sustainability. This space is intended to serve all residents and visitors.

Ihdzí’ is currently an initiative in development with lots of work left to be done and room to grow. The Ihdzí’ Coordinator role will play a significant part in informing the vision alongside the team, and bringing it to life. This is an opportunity to come in on the ground floor and participate in creating a vital community space. The Ihdzí’ Coordinator at our community hub is a vital role responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the space. They serve as the face of  Ihdzí’, embodying its values and ensuring a positive and inclusive environment for all users. The ideal candidate for this position is energetic, reliable, connected to the community, compassionate, empathic, creative, respectful of two-way learning, and committed to the values of low barrier access, creativity, inclusivity, safety, and sustainability.

The Ihdzí’ Coordinator reports directly to the Chief Reinvestment Officer (CRO), NNDDC and at times may take guidance and direction from the Community Solutions Catalyst, NNDDC and the Community Adult Education Coordinator, Yukon University - Mayo Campus
