The Kwanlin Dün First Nation is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join the Human Resources Team.

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the incumbent is primarily responsible for undertaking recruitment activities on behalf of the First Nation.  This includes creating, reviewing, and updating job descriptions, preparing advertisements, and determining most appropriate advertising methods, working with departmental representatives to develop job specific interview questions and tests, chairing selection committees for consensus decision making, conducting thorough reference checks, and extending offers of employment. 

In addition, this position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the HRIS database and employee files, orientation activities for new personnel, tracking performance evaluation completion due dates, and other tasks specific to human resource generalist requirements.

 

Our successful candidate must have good attention to detail, ability to manage time effectively and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with a variety of individuals including the ability to foster relationships based on trust, mutual respect and understanding. Solid writing skills and computer skills are required.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Human Resource Management or related discipline combined with knowledge & experience in recruitment and HR processes, preferably in a federally regulated workplace
  • Experience working within, applying and providing interpretation of various Acts, Regulations (I.e.: Canada Labour Code, Employment Standards), policies and guidelines;
  • Experience coordinating and leading recruitment processes and activities;
  • Experience drafting and modifying job advertisements & job descriptions is an asset;
  • Experience working as an effective member of a team in a human resource/labour relation capacity providing quality customer service to internal and external clients.

 

Knowledge of Yukon First Nation people’s history and familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

 

Note: An equivalent combination of education, training and considerable experience in the above areas will also be considered.

 

Conditions of Employment: An acceptable Criminal Records Check; Valid Yukon class 5 driver’s license

*KDFN has a generous employer paid benefits and matching pension package that commences after 3 months of continued employment plus paid leave accruals. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day (1820 hours per year).
