Salary:
$32.32 to $43.27 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)

Overview
KFN is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Heritage Trails Crew member. This position assists with the construction, maintenance, and improvement of KFN’s heritage trails. The Heritage Trails Crew supports the Heritage Trails Lead in identifying and protecting heritage resources, documenting field observations, and ensuring safe and effective operations in remote outdoor environments. The role requires teamwork, using field equipment such as GPS devices and cameras, and performing physically demanding tasks over varied terrain and in all weather conditions.

Education and Experience
Relevant experience in field-based and remote environments is required, with experience participating in on-the-land, trail, or heritage-related projects preferred. Knowledge of KFN’s Traditional Territory and heritage trails identified in Chapter 13 of KFN’s Final Agreement is preferred. Experience using GPS technologies, camera equipment, and satellite phones is required, along with a willingness to learn new equipment and data reporting technologies. Carpentry skills are considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.

Conditions of Employment

  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and updated clean driver’s abstract are preferred 
  • Ability to operate an off-road vehicle, i.e., ATVs and snowmobiles
  • Valid Chainsaw Safety Training and Standard First Aid certificates are assets
  • Physically fit and able to perform all job duties
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends, overnight, outside of regular working hours and to work and travel in remote locations, all weather conditions and by various means of transportation
  • Must wear and maintain personal protective equipment
