Salary:  Level 5 Step 1 ($72,969.00 annually)

Under the supervision of the Dänojà Zho Manager, the Gift Shop Supervisor & Heritage Programmer serves as an ambassador for Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in citizens and enhances cultural awareness, identity, and pride, while providing excellence in customer care to all visitors. The primary objective for this role is to deliver heritage programs and host visits in a positive environment where citizens, visitors, and employees feel welcomed and respected while enjoying an atmosphere of support, inspiration, and education. 

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  

  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent experience in related fields.
  • Experience in public speaking and customer service.
  • Knowledge and experience in traditional / contemporary life ways and values of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.
  • Passion for history, culture, traditions, language and service is essential.
  • Good oral, written, research and communication skills.
  • Experience providing customer service in a retail or similar operation, cashier skills, basic office skills.
  • Experience operating a point-of-sale cash and inventory system especially Square Builder.
  • Ability to take on projects, problem solve and multi-task.

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Standard First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within first 3 months).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver abstract.
  • TH101 cultural awareness training.
