Title: Forest Technician

Term: Full-Time Employment

Hourly Pay: $30  - $35 (pay is commensurate with education and years of experience)

Schedule: 8 to 10-hour shifts Monday to Friday  

Location: Whitehorse
 

Lumberfolk Forest Consultants are seeking a Forest Technician to join their team! The position is full-time (40 hours per week). The Forest Technician will be responsible for working with a Professional Forester and helping them conduct both field and desk operations within forestland around the Yukon Territory.
 

Duties
Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Timber Cruising
  • Block Layout
  • Permanent Sample Plot Establishment
  • Tree Planting
  • Manual Thinning
  • Data Analysis
  • Report Writing

 

About Lumberfolk

Lumberfolk Forest Consultants Ltd. was founded in 2024. Lumberfolk provide forest management and land use planning services within all forest types across Canada. The company works with landowners to develop and design land use plans that meet their environmental, social, and economic goals and objectives. Lumberfolk have experience designing inventories and methodologies for data collection, summarizing results and mapping for operational planning, analyzing scenarios, reporting on assumptions, limitations, risks and sensitives, developing monitoring plans, and making recommendations. Services also include block layout, reconnaissance, timber cruising, forest inventory data collection, silviculture surveys, and field trainings. Based out of Whitehorse, YT, the Lumberfolk team is looking for a full-time Forest Technician to join their team.
 

Qualifications

Desired qualifications for this position include:

  • Education or background in Forestry/Environmental Management
  • One season of experience working in a related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Skilled in QGIS and/or ArcGIS software
  • Strong reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the outdoors in the Yukon Territory
  • Class 5 or higher driver’s license is an asset
  • Standard First Aid is considered an asset
