Overview

The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall bookkeeping, financial management, and accounting functions of Dease River First Nation (DRFN). Duties include budgeting, financial management, preparation of financial reports and all aspects of financial administration. Bookkeeping and accounting functions include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the policies and procedures established by Council are carried out and that the financial records are kept up to date in an orderly and neat manner and that all financial obligations are met.

Qualifications

·         Implementation of GAAP ensuring that all budgets, financial management, records and reports meet these principles and that DRFN adheres to Federal Government Legislation, regulations and procedures.

·         Formulating, monitoring, and evaluating annual departmental and project budgets.

·         Ensure that all financial functions; payroll, accounts receivable, purchase orders, travel claims, cheque runs, general ledger, and others as required, are carried out and reconciled in a timely manner.

·         Reviewing organizational wide contribution agreements and ensuring reporting and conclusion of all funding.

·         Preparation of tax rebates, Receiver General payments, staff benefits, GST filing, DRFN insurance renewals, WCB, and other financial reports, records and claims are managed in a timely manner.

·         Interacting and liaising with banks and other financial agencies by reviewing bank statements.

Education/Experience
The successful candidate will possess a diploma in Business Administration, Accounting (CPA) or similar fields and/or minimum five (5) years experience working in a financial administration role with significant experience in a First Nation environment.
