Reporting to the Family Supports and Policy Manager, the Family Case Lead is responsible for the delivery of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in (TH) Ni’ehłyat Nidähjì’ (NN) child, youth and family programs and services, and providing culturally appropriate, trauma informed and holistic support to TH families and youth. The Family Case Lead implements culturally safe practices outlined in the Family and Child Services (FCS) MOU with the Government of Yukon. The incumbent is the lead contact for TH families, serving as a resource person, navigator and advocate to support families in all areas of their lives, including administrative support. The incumbent liaises and networks with other NN Department employees and other TH Department staff to ensure TH families, youth and children can access holistic, wrap-around supports 

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Degree in social sciences (preferably health or social work) or relevant health field. An equivalent combination of education, training, skills, knowledge and experience will be considered. 
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government structure, values, culture, traditions, history, demographics, family structures and socio-economic dynamics.  
  • Understanding of intergenerational trauma and impacts of colonization on TH families and children. 
  • Demonstrated experience to develop, manage, and report on trauma-informed, culturally aware and holistic case management. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous peoples’ history with child apprehension and welfare. 
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines and in immediate responses to Intensive family/child concerns, as outlined in the FCS MOU. 
  • Experience in case management, documentation, file maintenance and confidential processes. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive professional working relationships with staff, citizens, families and the public. 

Assets: 

  • Previous experience working in a First Nation Government administrative setting and/or working directly with First Nations to deliver social programs and services is an asset. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, videoconferencing technology and other office-related equipment. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with complex situations. 
  • Basic knowledge of Bill-C92 and Family Child Service processes.
