Executive Director (Competition #2026-012)

Full-time, Term until August 2027 (with a possibility of extension), in Burwash Landing
Salary: $120,834.29 to $170,040.93 per annum (salary under review) based on 70 hours bi-weekly (depending on qualifications and experience).

Overview
Kluane First Nation is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Executive Director. The Executive Director is the principal employee of the Chief and Council and serves as the primary liaison between Chief and Council and the Kluane First Nation (KFN) administration. This position provides overall executive leadership for the day-to-day operations of the KFN administration, ensuring clear communication, effective operations, and alignment with the strategic and administrative direction set by Chief and Council. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing Council decisions and organizational priorities in accordance with KFN legislation, while fostering a professional, accountable, and motivated organizational culture that advances the best interests of Kluane First Nation. 

Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in Business, Public Administration, or First Nations and Indigenous Studies is preferred. Significant progressively responsible experience in a senior management role is required. Experience working and living in First Nation communities or other cross-cultural environments is preferred, along with demonstrated experience managing large or complex projects. Senior leadership experience within a First Nations government, the public sector, human resources, or finance, supported by a proven record of organizational and operational success is preferable. An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience will be considered. 

Conditions of Employment 

  • A bachelor's degree
  • A valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver's abstract 
  • An up-to-date criminal records check and clean record
  • Willing and able to travel and work variable hours and overtime
  • Extended workdays may be required to accomplish tasks and meet workload demands during peak periods, as directed
  • Willing to participate in events, activities, and luncheons, and build relationships with KFN staff and Citizens.
  • Attendance at the General Assemblies is a requirement of this position.
  • Willing to undertake additional training
