Characteristics and Experience We Are Seeking
We are seeking those with an authentic and dynamic approach to relationship building and a strong knowledge of Indigenous parenting practices. You may have received education in family studies, early childhood development, or have been raised in community. Indigenous culture, intergenerational connections, community and the land are important to us in the work we do. You will be comfortable creating, implementing and leading events, workshops and learning opportunities focused for young parents, babies, toddlers and caregivers. A strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn the educational, cultural, and social issues affecting Yukon First Nation people is necessary for success in the role.
YFNED is partnered with the Martin Family Initiative (MFI); a charity that works alongside First Nations, Inuit and Métis People in Canada to help foster Indigenous children and youth’s education and wellbeing. The MFI Early Years is an innovative evidence-informed program model that seeks to honor parents as their children’s first teachers, support healthy pregnancies and infancy and facilitate successful service navigation.

Hiring preference is provided to those who identify as First Nation, Metis or Inuit/Inuk. If you are Indigenous, please include your family and community affiliation on your cover letter or resume.
