Description:

The Yukon First Nation Education Directorate (YFNED) Early Years Team is seeking a dedicated Early Years Visitor to support Indigenous families living in Takhini Subdivision, on the traditional territory of the Champagne & Aishihik First Nation. This role focuses on delivering culturally sensitive programming that promotes healthy pregnancies, early learning, and family well-being. Working closely with the CAFN Early Years Program, the visitor will use a holistic, community-based approach to enhance parenting and child development.

YFNED is partnered with the Martin Family Initiative (MFI); a charity that works alongside First Nations, Inuit and Métis People in Canada to help foster Indigenous children and youth’s education and wellbeing. The MFI Early Years is an innovative evidence-informed program model that seeks to honor parents as their children’s first teachers, support healthy pregnancies and infancy and facilitate successful service navigation.

Position Requirements:
• Regular travel within CAFN territory is required.
• Pre-employment Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
• Standard First Aid & CPR certification.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract and reliable transportation
• Must complete the Understanding the Early Years, a 45-hour course, within three months of hire.
