- Description:
The Yukon First Nation Education Directorate (YFNED) Early Years Team is seeking a dedicated Early Years Visitor to support Indigenous families living in Whitehorse. This role focuses on delivering culturally sensitive programming that promotes healthy pregnancies, early learning, and family well-being.
Our ideal candidate will have an outgoing and dynamic approach to relationship building and a strong knowledge of traditional First Nation parenting practices. Considerable experience working with infants, toddlers and families in programming, preferably in First Nation communities is required. You will be comfortable implementing and leading events, workshops and learning opportunities focused on young mothers, babies, toddlers and caregivers. A strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn the educational, cultural, and social issues affecting Yukon First Nation people is necessary for success in the role.
YFNED is partnered with the Martin Family Initiative (MFI); a charity that works alongside First Nations, Inuit and Métis People in Canada to help foster Indigenous children and youth’s education and wellbeing. The MFI Early Years is an innovative evidence-informed program model that seeks to honor parents as their children’s first teachers, support healthy pregnancies and infancy and facilitate successful service navigation.
