Reporting to the Director of Heritage, the Cultural Education Coordinator supports the development and delivery of cultural education programs by coordinating and supporting workshops, land-based activities (including culture camps) and other cultural learning opportunities that are grounded in Dënezhu knowledge and values. The incumbent works with the Traditional Knowledge Specialist, other TH Departments and Elders to ensure cultural protocols are appropriately reflected in cultural education programming.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree, diploma or other certification in a relevant field of study, along with one year of experience working within traditional northern cultures and developing/delivering traditional cultural programming; an equivalent combination of education, training, skills and abilities will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating, instructing or coordinating workshops, events, activities and programs within formal, informal and cross-cultural settings.
- Sound knowledge of Athapaskan/Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in culture, values, beliefs and practices.
- Experience developing learning plans and resources with culturally appropriate learning outcomes.
- Well developed understanding of the connection between cultural education, community wellness and success.
- Ability to conduct research using community resources (including people), primary and secondary sources, and a variety of other learning sources.
- High-level literacy and comprehension skills.
- Ability to deliver educational programming in different settings and to a variety of audiences.
Assets:
- Familiarity with the Hän language is an asset.
- Financial and budget management skills, including experience applying to and administering funding proposals, is an asset.
Conditions of Employment:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening.
- Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver abstract.
- Standard First Aid certification.
- Willingness to take Remote and/or Wilderness First Aid, ATV Safety and Boat Safety training, and acquire a Possessions & Acquisition License and Class 4 license, if required.
- TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
