The YFNED Nutrition team is seeking an energetic, creative, and community-minded individual to support the National School Food Program pilot initiative occurring in Watson Lake, Yukon at Johnson Elementary School. This position, in cooperation with the cook, will serve approximately 130 students per day.  You will play a key role in promoting student wellness by preparing and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks for students and youth for the remainder of the school year.

The key duties include but are not limited to:  meal preparation, cooking, maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen. This position requires the ability to work well in a team environment, manage time effectively, report to work daily (M-F) and work closely with school-based staff and administration to ensure meals are delivered on time. Accommodation of student allergy or dietary requirements is required.

Position requirements to work in the kitchen include: 

• Food Safe Level 1
• Experience with food preparation, cooking and clean up
• Pre-employment acceptable RCMP Security Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Clearance
• Ability to work early mornings and to travel to and from the worksite daily
