Reporting to the Manager of Health Promotion, the Community Health Nurse – Float (CHN-Float) provides a comprehensive range of community-based nursing and public health services to the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and surrounding areas. The CHN-Float works across various KDFN Health and Wellness programs, including Home and Community Care, Outreach Services, and Health Promotion. The CHN-Float collaborates closely with community resources to deliver culturally safe healthcare services to individuals and families across the lifespan, aligning with the strategic values, vision, goals, and objectives of Kwanlin Dün First Nation.
The CHN-Float ensures that clients receive culturally safe care at Natsʼekhì Kù Health Centre and other healthcare facilities. This role is integral to a multidisciplinary team, working with KDFN Health Centre staff, other KDFN departments, and various local, territorial, and federal organizations.

Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing or equivalent, with current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association.
- Yukon Certificate of Immunization Competency or willingness to obtain within two months of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in community health, public health, or primary care.
- Demonstrable knowledge/experience on Yukon First Nations' socioeconomic history, spiritual beliefs, and traditional healing practices (Please verify elaborate how in your cover letter).
- Knowledge of preventative health care, health promotion, and chronic disease management.
- Experience with health assessments, immunizations, home visits, maternal/child health, and community outreach preferred.
Knowledge and skills (what we may assess/interview on):
- Recent applied knowledge or nursing theory and best practices, preferably related to community health.
- Strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize daily tasks, organizational skills and effective decision-making abilities.
- Knowledgeable and competent in the collection and shipment of lab specimens (i.e., completion of forms, packaging and transportation).
- Conflict resolution skills and effectively assist in crisis situations.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently in a community health setting.
- Ability to deal effectively with authority figures and colleagues.
- Compassion and respect for the cultures and traditions of Kwanlin Dün, as well as those of individual citizens and families.
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
Conditions of Employment:
Salary: $76,531.00 - $120,811.60 per annum ($42.05 - $66.38 per hour) Level 7 *plus benefits
